The last Neyhta (chieftain) of the Mh’arhi tribe, Azzy is a fierce warrior willing to lay down his life to protect those he loves. Physically blind, his ability to see the currents of anima in living things allows him to navigate without aid. A master of blood magicks, he struggles with the Hunger; an affliction that comes with repeated strain of manipulating blood.
Gymnast build, skin is naturally dual-toned dark grey/light grey, covered in black scales, ears do not move, tail is long with a large stinger-like spike at the tip. NEVER SEEN WITHOUT HIS BLINDFOLD.
Comes off as incredibly cold and detached, curt but not standoffish. Believes he has to be strong and stoic to protect his people, very emotionally guarded. Helpful but rude about it (‘stand aside you are useless. Let me do it’ etc) To those closest to him and able to look past his walls he is a very broken man, struggling with guilt and believing that it’s his fault the Mar are all but gone; thrust into the role of leader when he was far too young and not ready. His people’s deaths weigh heavy on his soul and he believes with his own bloodshed he can make amends for his ‘sin’.
A spiked thurible that doubles as a mace. The incense is hallucinogenic and gives off orange smoke. Whips himself with it to sacrifice blood which he manipulates into things like blades.
When the Empire assimilated the Mar into its fold by force, Azzy did not wish to fight. Too many had been killed. Seen as beasts to be controlled, the Mar were treated with cruelty in the capital. Seeing the death and destruction around him, the proud people beaten into submission, he offered himself as sacrifice. He lay before the church, offering his body as the sacrificial lamb so that no other Mar may be harmed. The priests accepted this offer and did as such, only then realizing the power of Mar blood and the magic it contained. They extended a hand and offered him a seat among them. Believing that with his power he would hold some sway over religious politics and could offer his people more support with the church’s aid, he accepted. What he didn’t realize is that he was simply a pawn to the Pontifices and was opening the door for his people to be subjected to the horrors of the Weeping One. The road to hell is paved with good intentions after all… can he be saved?
